Hey lil' girl is your daddy home

Kimono: American Rag, Macys. Dress: H&M. Hat: Brixton, Urban Outfitters.

This weekend I traveled down to good ol' Simi Valley, where I was born and raised, to visit my parents. And let me tell you, it is unbelievably hot. The thermometer in my car said 111 degrees, I kid you not. So naturally we do what we do best on any hot day, not a lot and keep indoors. Which, to me, is a blessing. My job, as a K-12 school photographer is a blast but it is also exhausting.  I wake up daily at 4am, carry heavy equipment, set it up, talk to kids all day, break down my set, pack it back up, and unload it at the wear house again. So doing nothing this weekend has been awesome. Tomorrow I drive back up to San Mateo where it's always a cool 83 degrees...ahhhh yes.

But anyways! On to the clothes! As you might have noticed I have named this blog after my favorite black hat. It was such a great find and steal! I got it for only $5 dollars at Urban Outfitters. The only problem with it is that it often falls off my head with only the slightest gust of wind. It's just a tad too big. But! I love it so that I still wear it as often as possible. It's the perfect addition to all outfits! My dress is a simple black dress that I got for my college graduation, from H&M, but pairs really nicely with this great Kimono that I found at Macys. I originally just bought it for a photo shoot, but I loved it so much that I kept it. It also looks good tied up with jeans or a skirt! Looks I am sure I'll post in the future!

  1. Loving the photos. And love the inspiration for the title of your blog. I'm wondering, though, since the blog is going to be a bit about fashion, what insights you have into those little bits of clothing or accessories that seem to compliment or mirror who we are. I'd love to see you speculate on what these little items do for our sense of self, our identities. I have a hat that I adore. I don't wear it often and couldn't tell you wear it is right now, but there's something about that damn hat that captures one of my alter-egos. I like that about it. The fantasy of it. Keep the pics and words and posts comin'!
